About Myself

 

 

Born in 1984 in Strasbourg (France), I have been passionate about tales and cartoon movies since I was a child. Impressed by the imagination of certain directors and storytellers who populate our world, I decided to study art and literature.

 

With a master's degree in animated short films, and the ambition of becoming an artistic director one day, I would love to work in the industry of “short and long format” animation movies.  During my final year of studies, I made the discovery of stop motion movies. Being of a rather manual nature, I spontaneously turned to this discipline which offers a variety of very surprising techniques, ranging from the most cheerful to the most cynical. Thanks to this art, I was able to identify my own graphic universe of “colored papers, pastels”, as well as my tastes in choice of writings, such as fantasy tales, cynical tales and even strange ones, which I intend to incorporate into the adaptation of a movie.

 

After having studied hairdressing beforehand, a sector in which I was unable to completely satisfy myself artistically. I preferred to turn to a model maker's job in animated films. I quickly noticed that to master certain tools, such as scissors, could turn out to be very useful in the manufacturing of models. Certain materials, for example hair and fur, require a certain know-how and precision when handling your tools.

 

As for the method which I use, it came to me instinctively during a course. During my training we had to produce an experimental animation by using an alternative technique to 2D. Personally, I choose colored paper. Since then, I have adopted it definitively because it is a remarkable support through which we can obtain convincing results. Furthermore, this technique is not widely used in the stop motion sector, which prefers by far to use plasticine.

 

I am also a very emotional person and am therefore very sensitive. For me, it is inevitable that a movie, a picture or a text portrays a feeling, whatever it is. Both originality and empathy are for me a source of interest and success.

 

 

I am also very interested in documentaries, the environment of animated series, travelling all over the world and foreign languages. At present, I speak only my native language, but I am very interested in learning languages such as English (which I am studying at the moment), Spanish, Italian and German.
